Closet Space

So you're looking for some new North York real estate and your real estate agent has asked you to come up with a list of needs, wants, and would likes. Needs are features you can't do without in a house. Wants are things your ideal house would have, but that you can live without. Would likes are bonuses that would increase your interest in a property that meets your other requirements. But where should closet space fall on this list? How much do you need and how much should you aim for? It depends on the sort of person you are. Use this article as a guide to see where you fall.

As the primary home buyer, you and your spouse will be inhabiting the master bedroom. If you or your significant other are either a shopaholic or a pack rat, then you should be looking for a Markham home with a large walk-in closet in the master bedroom. Settling for less closet space will only lead to your new house looking just as cramped and unfitting as your old house in a matter of weeks or months. Available closet space should ideally exceed the dimensions required to house all your current stuff to allow for inevitable expansion.

Though your personal closet space needs should take priority when you're shopping for Yorkville condos they are by no means the only needs that should be considered. If you have dependants, such as children, parents, or roommates living with you, you should take into account their needs as well. Young children and males generally don't need more than your standard cupboard or wardrobe, but if you've got a teenage daughter look out! Make sure her room has a large closet or you may find her taking over yours!

Personal clothing takes up the vast majority of closet space in most typical Yorkville real estate but when you're planning for closet space remember that there are other things you may want to store away from common view as well. These include coats and shoes in your hall or entryway, linens and bedclothes in the hallway to the bedrooms or in your utility room, towels and toiletries in the bathroom, and even paints or cleaning supplies in your garage or basement. Consider what you can and can't do without when making your list.

It is possible, if you find a piece of Riverdale, Toronto real estate that's really perfect in every other way, to make do with a lack of closet space if you're willing to think outside the box. The use of wardrobes in bedrooms and hallways can make up for lack of closets there (keep in mind that it will reduce the size of the room) and installing shelving can create storage space for linens or tools.
