Casual Friday

Some places do it as a way for people in the office to give a little to charity and some just do it as a way to take some of the pressure off at the end of the week. But no matter the reason, more and more offices seem to be adopting the tradition of having a "Casual Friday" at least once a month. While you're usually allowed to dress however you want when you're working for a Toronto airport taxi or in a daycare, within reason, this is not generally the case when you're working in an office setting. Some might think that all of the rules can be broken when Casual Friday comes around. But the truth is that there are still some guidelines that you will want to follow.

There are two different types of offices and generally they each have different rules when it comes to dress. If you're a salesperson for a company that distributes a unique kind of tamper evident band to pharmaceutical companies than you're likely going to want to show a professional front no matter what day it is at the office. If you're working on the accounting floor or a business and you don't see many people who don't work at the company than you will usually find the policy for Casual Fridays to be a little more lax.

While you might not see lawyers or Toronto real estate brokers going to work in jeans very often, they are the staple of Casual Fridays. But that doesn't mean that you pull out your favorite pair that you would wear on the weekend while watching television or out to work in the garden on a sunny summer day. The custom is to favor a nice pair of tailored jeans in a darker wash. This will give you the comfort that you're looking for while still looking put together while you're working on currency ETFs or an ad campaign.

Shoes are another area where people might get a little confused when it comes to what's appropriate. While it's likely that you'll be able to leave your pumps or dress shoes in the closet for the day, you're not going to want to replace them with flip flops or sneakers of any kind. Women might want to choose a nice ballet flat to wear to their Thermage Edmonton office, while men might want to go with a loafer or a lace-up casual shoe.
