Bottoms

Evolution is the key to this year's trends in bottoms, although some might see it as déjà vu, particularly in the case of jeans. If you have read our piece on trends in tops for 2009, you will notice that many of the same principles apply to their complements. There are few original notions this year, but things are looking good nonetheless.

Boyfriend jeans: This is a fairly simple look, and one of the bottoms trends that is being recycled. Buy a pair of men's jeans, roll up the cuffs, and you are in style. There are mixed feelings about this amongst critics and on the street, but if it's good enough for Paris, who are we to argue? They have that look of hanging around a Liberty-On-The-Park condo all day in the best possible comfy clothes.

Baggy: Let's use that point to drive home another one: when it comes to pants, baggy is the byword in spring 2009. From business clothes to casual wear, cling is definitely out with most designers electing for a very loose look. So, if you're a Whitby real estate agent or you spend your day selling commodity funds you can bet there is a comfortable bottom style out there for you this season.

Length: This year, it's all or nothing when it comes to the length of your skirts. We are seeing a lot of skirts and dresses that stop abruptly at mid-thigh, or carry on straight down to the ankles. Not a lot of options for those of us with questionable thighs but great calves! But, if you're young and more worried about commercial mortgage loans than you are about the current market value for New Condos Toronto you can show a little leg!

Shorts: Well, we might be a bit ahead of ourselves looking at trends in shorts, but in some parts of the world April means it's time to show off those legs. 2009 gives even more meaning to the word than 2008 did; shorts are definitely skimpy this year! Maybe you can try them out when you visit the latest trends in real estate in Puerto Vallarta Mexico this summer.

Ripped jeans: Another step up the fashion evolution ladder in 2009. Ripped jeans were in last year, but they are a fully matured concept this spring. The rips aren't confined to any one area, either; they go from the traditional knee look to tiger shred marks down the whole leg. Again, sexy! Sheer overlay: Now, if you aren't totally comfortable with the more revealing trends this year, you might want to combine two of the sexy looks. You can cover those short shorts up with a skirt made of sheer fabric, a subtler way to look sexy.
